Welcome to the Warrandyte Pottery Gallery!

We’re so glad to have you join our collective of artists! This guide is meant to provide gallery specific information to help you get off to a great start and provide you with important information.


Our mission

Warrandyte Pottery Gallery is a collaborative gallery space established in 2020 and was conceived as a destination to present emerging and mid-career artists and makers from all over Victoria. Our aim is to create a community for artists and provide support for innovative and inclusive artistic pursuits with an artist-centered approach. We hope to continue to provide exciting opportunities for artists to share their work with our local community and each other. With a strong basis in ethical practices, we work hard to establish and cultivate an environment where all artists are treated as equals and all work is promoted equally and without bias.


Important information

GALLERY INSURANCE: Warrandyte Pottery has comprehensive insurance which covers theft, major structural damages, fire and non environmental flood. It does not cover your individual work once it has left the premises and any liabilities which may occur from the use of your work. We highly recommend each artist has their own insurance. By signing your contract, you waive the right to peruse Warrandyte Pottery for any damages which occur to patrons as a result of your art work.

BREAKAGE POLICY: Warrandyte Pottery is not liable for breakage which occurs by patrons visiting the gallery. Breakage cost will be assessed on an individual basis, based on the circumstances. If a costumer breaks an item, you are encouraged to seek compensation from the costumer. Warrandyte Pottery will only cover breakage of items of which warrandyte pottery was responsible for the breakage.

SALE OF ARTWORK –– GST (Goods and Services Tax) and Gallery commission

a. Warrandyte Pottery Gallery takes a 35% commission on all commission based artist sales. Option to reduce commission to 20% if artist chooses to do a shift in the gallery per month. Each month the artist completes a shift the commission will be reduced. If artist cannot complete a shift that month, the commission with be default back to 35%.
b. Pricing of the artwork will be mutually agreed upon by the Artist and Warrandyte Pottery Gallery, taking GST and the gallery’s 35% commission into consideration.
c. All payments made by card incur a 1.6% square processing fee and will be taken out of the final sale amount.
d. All artwork sales are to be conducted by WPG while work is being displayed in the gallery–no alternative arrangements may be made by the exhibitor regarding price or independent sales, including but not limited to personal online sales such as website, social media sales. If Artwork is sold outside of gallery while being displayed, a 35% commission is still applicable.
e. GST is a mandatory government tax applied to the sale of all goods and services, including the sale of artwork. If you are registered for GST please indicate in the below agreement form.

CONTACT AND PAYMENT DETAILS
a. Settlements for any sales during the agreed exhibition period will be sent to the artist no later than 30 days after the artwork sale. Payment will be transferred via online bank transfer to the exhibitor’s preferred bank account, nominated by the exhibitor (see form below)
b. As per Warrandyte Pottery Gallery’s commission, each artist payment will have 35% commission deducted from the wall price/RRP of each sold work. WPG pays GST on their commission portion. Please nominate your preferred bank account to forward payment in the from below.
c. Once item is sold, you will be notified via email or WhatsApp and payment will be made at the closest a lotted day within our payment schedule. Funds are transferred fortnightly to all artists displaying in the gallery. All funds from sales are transferred to your nominated account minus 1.6% square fee and a 35% commission.


SELECTION OF ARTWORK –– selection for display and installation
a. WPG focuses on carefully curated works and reserves the right to determine the final selection of artwork to be displayed.
b. All artworks submitted for display must be original and created by the participating artist. The gallery reserves the right to reject any work deemed unsuitable for display.

ARTWORK DELIVERY & EXHIBITION INSTALLATION –– Delivery of Artwork, installation day and attached fixings
a. Artwork must be delivered to the gallery on the agreed upon date/time.
b. Exhibitors must deliver their work to the gallery install-ready for display and sale––this includes all frames and stretchers being appropriately strapped with picture wire and d-rings, ready to install.
c. WPG requests that all work on paper be appropriately framed. However, we would request that alternative (unframed) methods be discussed with the gallery prior to artwork delivery.
d. If the exhibitor has any special requirements for the installation of their work, please inform us.

PHOTOGRAPH REQUIREMENTS: Each artist is required to provide a photograph of your items for the gallery instagram and website. You must include all relevant information as outlined in the application. All information must be sent to gallery@warrandytepottery.com.au

OUR EXPECTATIONS: Warrandyte Pottery intends to run an equitable, fair and ethical space where all artists are promoted equally and fairly. This includes studios, workshops, and other projects artists participate in outside of the gallery. These promotions are only for individual artists who are currently displaying in the gallery and large community arts events. We expect all artists to promote each other’s work with enthusiasm and respect. This is a none competitive space, created in reverence for the arts and its long standing importance in our community and the world.

Stock and Displays

If you need to remove stock or replace stock ensure you are doing so outside of trading hours. Please made individual appointments at least one week in advance by emailing gallery@warrandytepottery.com.aU
