2 Day Intensive

with Jann Kesby

Wednesday April 1 & Thursday April 2, 2026 10am–4pm
Limited to 9 participants

Join us in the studio with acclaimed Australian potter Jann Kesby in this immersive two-day workshop.

Known for her mastery of traditional wood firing and her uniquely expressive throwing techniques, Jann brings a wealth of knowledge and experience that will inspire and challenge potters of all levels.

Over two full days, participants will explore Jann’s personal methods of throwing off the hump, refining functional and sculptural forms with precision and flow. The workshop also delves deep into material understanding as Jann demonstrates how to create a clay body from raw materials—a rare opportunity to understand how to make your own clay body.

Each session combines demonstration, hands-on practice, and guided feedback in a small-group setting that ensures personal attention and a supportive learning environment.

Schedule

Day 1 – Exploring Form and Throwing Techniques (10am–4pm)

  • Introduction to Jann Kesby’s practice and approach to material

  • Demonstrations: throwing off the hump, form development, and trimming

  • Supervised studio time for participants to apply new techniques

  • Group discussion and Q&A

Day 2 – Clay Formulation and Studio Application (10am–4pm)

  • Demonstration: preparing a clay body from raw materials

  • Discussion on clay composition—strength, plasticity, and firing behaviour

  • Participants continue refining and finishing personal works

  • Closing discussion and reflection

Morning tea will be provided each day. Participants are asked to bring their own lunch. All materials and tools will be supplied. Firing not included.

This workshop is limited to just nine participants to ensure an intimate, focused learning experience.
