WPS OFF STREET GENERAL FIRING SERVICE
WE ARE NOT CURRENTLY ACCEPTING OFF STREET FIRING
Please read the following information carefully before booking your work in for a firing service.
Price and payment
Our general firing is a service of $9 per kilo, per firing, with a minimum charge of $9 per firing.
Studio staff will weigh your work at the studio and payment will be organised upon pickup of fired work. We accept cash or card payments.
Turnaround time is generally 2 - 4 weeks from time of drop off (end of term and public holidays may extend turnaround times).
Firing services available:
Bisque firing 1000˚C ∆06
Stoneware 1260-1280˚C ∆7-10
What to bring
Please bring a box to keep your items together with a clear label on that box so we can keep your work together once it’s been fired.
Please bring a kiln sitter/cookie (made of unglazed stoneware or bisque ware) to fire your work on as this will prevent any glaze running onto the kiln shelves. The cookie must be 1cm wider that the base of your work. Unfired wet or leather hard clay will not be accepted.
If you don’t have a cookie to place under your work you can purchase one from the studio. Prices start from $2 a cookie depending on size.
All work must have the bases clear of glaze before drop off. If work has glaze on the base it will not be loaded into the kiln and your work will not be fired.
*In the event that glaze should run onto our kiln shelves causing damage, there will be a fee of between $15-$30 for minor damage and $70 upwards for major damage repairs.
If you use BRT as your clay body please also use a cookie/kiln sitter as the iron in BRT sticks to the kiln shelf.
Drop off times
Fill in the form at the bottom of the page to begin the booking process. Once we have organised and booked you in please deliver your work to the studio during studio hours.

Tuesday 10:30am - 4pm
Wednesday 1:30pm - 6pm
Thursday 4:30pm - 6pm
Friday 10:30am - 5:30pm
Saturday 10:30am - 3:30pm
Drop off and pick up of work must be made within the times outlined above. We cannot be held responsible for any work left unattended outside the gallery or studio.
Pick up
Once your work is ready for collection, we will notify you by email. You must pick up your work within 30 days of receiving the email notification that your work is ready. If you fail to collect your work within the time stated above, we reserve the right to put that work in our donation box or dispose of it.

Booking your firing
Please include the following information when booking your firing below:
Clay body used including max temperature. (please note that BRT has a high iron content and will need to be placed on a cookie/kiln sitter.)
Glaze used including the way it behaves during firing. Eg: flashing, jumping/crawling, prone to running, matte/gloss etc
The amount of work you want to fire including the approximate size of the work
Timeframe. Do you have a deadline for the work to be completed by? Please be aware of our firing lead time. Our studio peak times for firing will extend our lead time.
