Extended Practice
PROGRAM AGREEMENT

By submitting this form you confirming your place in the Extended Practice program at Warrandyte Pottery for 2026. This page outlines what the program includes and the terms of participation so you can make an informed decision.

About the Program

Extended Practice is a small‑cohort, multidisciplinary artist program for practitioners working in any modality—clay, drawing, painting, textiles, mixed media, sculpture, installation, writing and hybrid practices.

The program focuses on creative inquiry, attunement to process and development of individual voice within a supportive, artist‑led community, rather than on technical skills training.

What’s Included

  • Weekly Gathering: Tuesdays, 5:30pm–8:30pm, facilitated by studio director and multidisciplinary artist Gabie Mello, with a mix of shared studio time, conversation and self‑directed practice.

  • First session commences Tuesday February 3rd 2026

  • Monthly Group Reflection: The first Tuesday of each month becomes a facilitated group reflection circle, with prompts shared in advance via the group messaging channel.

  • Artist Community & Messaging Space: Access to an ongoing group chat (WhatsApp) to share opportunities, stay connected and offer encouragement between sessions.

  • Optional Studio Access (Tier 1 – clay only): Access to the clay studio Tuesdays from 2pm, and Thursdays and Saturdays 10am–4pm (except the first Saturday of each month) for self‑directed practice in a shared space.

  • End‑of‑Year Group Exhibition: A collectively developed exhibition where artists may share finished work, in‑progress explorations or research outcomes.

  • Optional 1:1 Mentoring: Discounted mentoring sessions with Gabie (booked separately) for practice development, artistic voice, conceptual refinement and project support.

Cohort size is strictly limited to a maximum of 15 participants to preserve intimacy, depth and individual attention while expanding to range of views and individual experiences that adds depth and meaning to our gatherings.

  • Tier 1 – Studio Access (clay‑based practices only): $350 per month.

Participation, Studio Use and Community

By joining the program, you agree to:

  • Attend weekly sessions and monthly reflections as consistently as possible, understanding that the depth of the work is supported by rhythm and presence.

  • Work safely and independently with your chosen materials, following all health and safety instructions and studio guidelines.

  • Treat the studio space, equipment and other people with care and respect, cleaning your area and shared tools at the end of each session.

  • Contribute to a culture of mutual learning, critical generosity and non‑competitive support, including keeping sensitive discussions in the group confidential unless you have explicit permission to share.

Bullying, harassment, discrimination or behaviour that undermines the safety and wellbeing of the group is not acceptable; the studio may end a participant’s involvement if necessary to protect the community.

You acknowledge that art‑making and studio work involve some inherent risks (physical exertion, dust, tools, kilns etc.) and that you participate at your own risk while taking reasonable care of your health and safety.

Intellectual Property, Documentation and Changes

You retain ownership of your artworks, writings and creative projects developed within the program. Program materials such as prompts, frameworks and facilitation content remain the intellectual property of the studio and cannot be reproduced for teaching or commercial use without permission.

With your consent, the studio may document sessions and the group exhibition (e.g. photos, short videos) for marketing and archival purposes, and you may withdraw consent for future use at any time in writing.

Occasionally the studio may need to adjust dates, session formats or access times (for example due to public holidays, illness or public health guidelines). Any significant changes will be communicated as early as possible, and where needed alternative times or reasonable credits may be offered at the studio’s discretion.
